SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH REFORESTATION

Our planet thrives on healthy forests, and Patagonia is a prime example of that. Forests filter the air we breathe and mitigate climate change, prolonging the time we have to enjoy the beauties of the world unscathed. Sadly, deforestation threatens this delicate balance. At Crux Expeditions, we believe in giving back. That's why we're proud to support reforestation initiatives by giving every traveler a chance to plant the seeds that will one day grow into the lungs of the world—or to donate to that same cause.

Did you know?

A 4-hour airplane trip produces anywhere between 4-8 tonnes of CO2. Up to 364 trees would need to be planted in Patagonia to offset this impact!

Reforestation

Patagonia has fallen victim to numerous fires, intentional and accidental, as well as a number of other natural disasters which have ravaged the area of this majestic space over the years and centuries.

This, coupled with the constant influx of tourists to the area, has left Patagonia in need of external help—and we are here to give it just that! By making a push for reforestation, we will not only give this jewel of the continent a much-needed rebirth of greenery, but we’ll also give its wildlife a crucial source of food, cover, and biodiversity.

By planting with us—or donating to the cause—you’re not only helping the area, but you’re also leaving a lasting mark. The trees you plant will have your name on them—digitally—allowing you to track the progress of your own contribution to this miracle of nature.

By planting trees, we contribute to a healthier planet, ensuring the destinations you love remain vibrant and sustainable for generations to come. When you choose to travel with us, you're not just exploring the world, you're helping us protect it.

Cancelling carbon pollution

We know very well the complex relationship between travel and carbon emissions. It is a difficult conversation to have—but we want to have it nonetheless.

Traveling and tourism are large influencers of increased emissions, leading directly to climate change and the negative consequences on spaces such as Patagonia.

Through reforestation, however, we aim to make the world a better place and negate our carbon emissions impact—one tree at a time! Reforestation acts as a natural carbon sink, with trees absorbing carbon dioxide, storing it for use in photosynthesis for potentially-hundreds of years, and thus offsetting emissions caused by human activities.
